To provide infrastructure and public utilities specifically roads, water supplies, buildings, airports, ports and jetties to meet the needs of the national development with continuous emphasis on :

FUNCTION

PWD Malaysia are responsible for :

Planning, Design and Construction of infrastructure projects namely roads, water supplies, government department's buildings, airports, ports and jetties.

  • operation and Maintenance of roads, water supplies and specific government department's buildings.
  • technical Expertise to the Government of Malaysia at Federal, State and District levels.

The department is headed by the Director, Ir. Mohd Syed Hamdan bin Syed Harman. He is assisted by 58 Senior Officers of various discipline, namely Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, Architects, Quantity Surveyors, Administrative Officer and Accountant. In addition, the department employs over 2,465 staffs comprising of technical assistants, technicians, clerks and general workers. The department organisation is structured into Head Office and District offices.

The head office consists of 3 main sections :

  • Roads & Bridges
  • Buildings

and 4 supporting sections which are :

Architecture
Quantity Surveying
Electrical Engineering
Mechanical Engineering

and an administrative and financial section :

To enhance the development of infrastructures in all the district in Kedah, District Engineers are appointed to ensure that projects are carried out and completed efficiently and economically. The District Engineers are designated to the districts as follows :

Kota Setar/Padang Terap
Kuala Muda/Sik
Kulim / Bandar Baharu
Kubang Pasu
Baling
Pendang / Yan
Langkawi

Operation, maintenance and development of water supply projects in Kedah are organised into water supply zones. Each zone is headed by a Water Executive Engineer. The 4 water zones are :

Northern Kedah - districts of Kota Setar, Padang Terap and Kubang Pasu
Central Kedah - districts of Kuala Muda, Sik, Pendang and Yan
Southern Kedah - districts of Kulim, Bandar Baharu and Baling
Langkawi Island - district of Langkawi

 

KEDAH PWD
is the technical arm of the State Government and serves as the main technical advisor and implementing agency for social and economic development. The major functions are to plan, design, construct, operate and maintain the state infrastructure and public utilities such as roads, buildings, water supplies, airports, ports and jetties to meet the needs of the nation.

CLIENT CHARTER
1. Action shall be taken to clear fallen trees from road surface not more than 24 hours after receiving complaint.
2. If landslide happened, action shall be taken not more than 24 hours after receiving complaint.
3. Action shall be taken to patch potholes on road pavement not more than 7 days after receiving complaint.
4. Any scheduled road closing shall be announced in massmedia at least 4 days before it will be done. For closing of road more than 30 days, it shall be gazetted and announced in massmedia at least 4 days before preceeding the work.
5. Feedback from PWD for road side development application through Local Authority such as Municipal Council and District Office shall be commented not more than 8 weeks after receiving it.
6. All road repairs shall be properly equipped with warning signboards.
7. Installation of new water meter shall be done within 4 weeks after receiving downpayment.
8. All bill quiries shall be settled within 3 days.
9. All water supply termination shall be reconnected within 3 days once all payments are settled.
10. Repayment of downpayment shall be processed and sent to State Accountant General within 2 weeks after receiving completed documents from consumer.
11. Rationing or scheduled water supply stoppage shall be announced at least 3 days before.
12. Water Tanker shall supply water within 24 hours after receiving request from consumer due to unschedule water stoppage.
13. Action to repair burst or leaking water pipe shall be taken not more than one day.
14. Feedback for the approval of the water reticulation and internal piping servicing systems shall be given not more than 8 weeks after receiving the application.
15. To give equal treatment in supplying water services to all consumers.
